I focus on three big things when I talk about parenting kids with special or different needs: honesty, language, and community.

I’m very open about the hard parts—aggression, behavioral issues, mom guilt, and the feelings nobody wants to say out loud. In my videos and posts, I try to show that there are no guarantees in parenting, and struggling does not make you a bad parent.

I’m careful with language, especially around stories like the YouTube family that “re-homed” their son, because how we talk about our kids with special needs really matters. I also say often: “I see you, I feel you, I’m with you,” because parents in this situation need to feel less alone and more supported, not judged.

Is there a specific challenge you’re facing right now that you’d like me to focus on?
