How does Meredith Masony's parenting philosophy address unexpected challenges?

I talk a lot about how parenting has no handbook and how easily it can swallow you whole when things don’t go “according to plan.” My philosophy is that you can’t be everyone’s everything and you’re not supposed to be. Unexpected challenges don’t mean you’re failing; they mean you’re human and your kids are, too.

I focus on:

• Letting go of the martyr mindset
• Remembering that your job is to raise kind, capable humans, not perfect ones
• Protecting your own identity so you’re not lost when seasons change

When things get hard, I come back to this: take care of yourself, stay honest with your kids, and adjust the plan, not your worth.
