Answer
I look at “multitasking” very differently from a lot of traditional parenting advice that quietly expects moms to be martyrs.
Traditional techniques often imply:
- Kids first, you last
- Perfect meals, perfect schedules, perfectly calm mom
- Your identity is “mom” and everything else waits until “after”
My approach is more about alignment than juggling. I ask:
- What actually matters for my kids today?
- What actually matters for me as a person, not just a mom?
So instead of trying to do everything at once, I combine things with intention: time with kids, time with my spouse, and time for myself all count as “real” parenting work. When I protect my own identity and energy, I show up more present, more patient, and less resentful. That “multitasking” wins over any rigid, perfection-driven technique.
