Answer
Hi, I’m Paul Rogers from thatcreativeceo. Love this question.
A few big ones I always lean on to avoid trash audio:
- Get the mic close – shotgun or lav as close to the mouth as possible, even if it’s just out of frame
- Prioritize location sound – turn off noisy AC, fridges, or move outside traffic noise
- Monitor with headphones – I’m always listening for hums, hiss, or clipping
- Record clean and safe – proper gain staging and a second “safety track” a few dB lower
- Control the space – soft furnishings, blankets, or sound panels to tame echo
What part of your audio setup are you struggling with most: gear, room noise, or mixing in post?
