How does Paul Rogers's use of diffusion outperform traditional studio lighting setups?

The big difference is I don’t stop at one layer of diffusion. Most traditional setups slap a softbox on a light and call it a day. That gives you softer light, but still a hot spot in the middle and “mushy but harsh” shadows.

I stack diffusion:

• First layer (softbox, shower curtain, etc.) spreads the beam
• Second layer (silk, bounce, or frame) kills the hot spot and turns the entire surface into the source

Result: smoother shadows, more flattering skin, and light that feels like daylight pouring through a window, not “You’re in a studio right now.”
