Answer
Hi, I’m Paul Rogers from thatcreativeceo. Love this question.
Here’s my go-to “cinematic glow” recipe from that one-stand book light-style setup:
- Put your light on a stand and aim it away from your subject into a reflector (white or silver)
- Place diffusion (softbox, shower curtain, diffusion cloth) between reflector and subject
- Raise the stand so the light is slightly above eye level and angled down
- Keep the light on the “pretty side” of the face (about 30–45° off camera)
You get soft skin, gorgeous roll-off, and zero crunchy shadows, all from one light, one stand, one reflector.
What gear are you working with right now (light type and room size)?
