Meredith Masony’s advocacy for sun safety comes directly from her own skin cancer scare. I’ve talked about discovering a small spot on my scalp that turned out to be skin cancer, and having to see a plastic surgeon and schedule a full body and scalp check.

Because of that, I’m much more vocal about hats, sunscreen, and sun-protective clothing, especially for families and kids who “live by the pool” in summer like mine do. My experience made sun safety feel urgent and personal, not just theoretical advice.
