Question
How does Meredith Masony's approach to motherhood resonate with modern parenting challenges?
Answer
When I talk about motherhood, I’m really talking about two big modern challenges: losing yourself in parenting and feeling like you’re never “enough.”
I push back on the idea that a “good mom” has to be a martyr. Parenting is intense and emotional, but I don’t believe you should disappear inside it. I’m very open about needing to know who I am—outside of “Mom”—so I can actually show up better for my kids.
I also speak to that weird, quiet crisis a lot of modern parents feel as kids get older: “If they don’t need me the same way, who am I?” I remind moms that they’re more than moms—they’re women with dreams, humor, work, creativity, relationships—and that their worth doesn’t vanish when the baby phase ends.
In a world that glorifies overfunctioning and burnout, my approach is about honesty, boundaries, and giving yourself permission to be a whole person, not just a role.
What part of parenting feels hardest for you to balance with your own identity right now?
