Here are a few of my go-to “signature” moves for pro-looking self tapes:

• Soft, natural lighting: Key light at eye level, about 45° off to one side, then bounce it off a white wall/board to kill harsh ring-light shadows. No horror-movie underlighting.
• Clean, non-distracting background: Solid wall, minimal decor, a bit of depth if you can.
• Camera at eye level: No “looking down at the peasants” or “lost little child” angles.
• Framing: Mid-shot (chest up), with a bit of headroom so casting can see your face work.
• Simple, quiet wardrobe: No tiny patterns, wild logos, or colors that blend into your wall.
