Here are my go-to natural light rules:

  • Natural light ≠ perfect light – I never trust the sun on its own, I control it.
  • Bring modifiers:
    • Diffusion (scrim/soft reflector) = softer skin, fewer harsh shadows
    • Silver = extra contrast and “pop”
    • Gold = instant warmth and glow
  • Shoot during golden hour when possible, and always face or angle your subject toward the softest source, not the brightest one.
