How does Paul Rogers’s double diffusion technique outperform traditional lighting methods?

Answer
Hi, I’m Paul Rogers from thatcreativeceo. Love this question.
My double diffusion approach beats “traditional” single-softbox lighting because:
- First layer (softbox, shower curtain, etc.) spreads the light so it isn’t a bare, punchy source
- Second layer (silk, bounce, or frame) kills the hotspot and turns the entire surface into the light source
- Result: smoother shadows, softer skin, and light that feels like daylight through a window instead of “YouTube soft but still harsh.”
It’s especially noticeable on beauty, interviews, and talking heads where skin has to look expensive, not crunchy.
What kind of shoots are you lighting right now—studio, home office, or on-location?
