I use a red laser pointer to help with focusing at night, especially because my night vision is pretty poor.

On dark scenes, I point the red laser at the subject or an object at the desired focus distance. Then I use autofocus on that bright red spot, lock focus (or switch to manual), and turn the laser off before making the exposure. It’s simple, cheap, and very effective.

Do you want tips on specific camera settings to pair with that method?
