How does Scott Kivowitz approach low-light photography with a Nikon Df?

With my Nikon Df, my approach to low-light is built around three things: sensor performance, fast lenses, and keeping noise manageable rather than “perfect.”

• I lean heavily on the Df’s excellent high-ISO performance, not hesitating to go to ISO 6400, 12,800, or higher if needed to preserve shutter speed.
• I pair it with fast primes (f/1.4–f/1.8) to pull in as much light as possible.
• I use aperture priority or manual with auto ISO, setting a minimum shutter speed that’s fast enough to avoid motion blur.
• In post, I apply modest noise reduction, prioritizing detail and mood over a totally clean file.
