Question
What unique techniques does Hilary Erickson recommend for dealing with shortness of breath during pregnancy?
Answer
As a pregnancy nurse with over 20 years of experience, I recommend a few techniques to help manage shortness of breath during pregnancy.
Firstly, practicing healthy breathing exercises can improve circulation and promote relaxation. These exercises don't have to take up a lot of time and can be done at your desk or in bed before you go to sleep.
Some of the exercises include deep diaphragmatic breathing, breath counting, visualization, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided relaxation.
Also, it's important to remember that changes to breathing during pregnancy are normal due to the baby pushing up into what used to be lung space. Proper breathing can help you stay relaxed and comfortable during pregnancy.
Would you like more details on any of these techniques?
