How does Hilary Erickson's approach to educational looping benefit students in her classroom?

In that post about looping, I wasn’t writing as a classroom teacher myself but as a parent describing how looping worked in my child’s class. The benefits I saw for students were:

• The teacher already knows each child’s strengths and weaknesses, so support can start on day one.
• Kids build deeper friendships and a strong “we’ve got each other’s back” class culture.
• If the teacher is great, staying with them brings a lot of stability and comfort for the child and the parent.

I also pointed out some possible downsides, like fewer “honeymoon” weeks with a new teacher and less variety in classmates, but overall our experience was very positive.
