Question
How does Hilary Erickson’s childbirth class method outperform traditional prenatal classes?
Answer
As a nurse with over 20 years of OB nursing experience, I've designed my childbirth classes to provide realistic expectations, emphasize the importance of movement during labor, and help you communicate better with your healthcare team. I believe these elements are key to reducing C-section rates and improving overall birth outcomes.
My classes also focus on teaching coping techniques for pain, which are often not covered in everyday life. This education can lead to decreased use of medical pain management options.
Moreover, my classes aim to reduce anxiety and fear related to childbirth, and help you adapt better to postpartum life. This is achieved by increasing self-efficacy, which is your belief in your ability to execute behaviors necessary for specific performance outcomes.
Lastly, I believe in the importance of separate prenatal and breastfeeding classes, as the skills required for each are different.
