From what I’ve shared publicly, my BYU years were actually some of the most carefree of my life. I was a freshman, in my first little relationship, living in the “Utah bubble,” and I’d say my main “challenge” then was that my faith really hadn’t been tried yet and I was still pretty naïve about real‑world struggles.

The bigger, more unique challenges came after BYU: deaths of close family members, marriage, kids, a big move, and learning to lean on my faith and the words of church leaders when life actually got hard.
