As a labor and delivery nurse and prenatal educator, I've encountered many pregnancy myths over the years. One of the biggest myths I've discussed is the belief that you can control your pregnancy and birth. The truth is, there are many aspects of pregnancy and birth that are beyond our control, such as the baby's position in the womb or the need for medical interventions like Pitocin or a C-section.

What we can control, however, is our attitude, feelings, and actions in response to what's happening. It's important to be prepared for any type of birth and to manage our expectations. Remember, every pregnancy and birth is unique, and it's okay if things don't go exactly as planned.

I also encourage expectant parents to educate themselves and ask questions. My online prenatal class for couples is a great resource for realistic, no-fluff prenatal education.

Is there a specific pregnancy myth you're curious about?
