Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse and Pulling Curls. I’ll walk you through how I run my weekly cleaning so it actually fits real life, not Pinterest perfection.

Here’s the basic rhythm I use most of the time:

  • Every day:

    • 10‑minute tidy (quick pick‑up so the house looks decent)
    • Throw in a load of laundry
    • Focus on my “area of the day”
  • My weekly “areas”:

    • Monday – Kitchen + Floors
Deep clean kitchen, wipe counters, appliances, sink, then sweep/mop hard floors. This is my longest day (about 1–1.5 hours).

    • Tuesday – Bathrooms
Toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors, tubs/showers, quick floor clean.

    • Wednesday – Bedrooms
Tidy surfaces, dust, change sheets as needed, quick vacuum; I also use this day to do small organizing projects in closets or drawers.

    • Thursday – Living room + Desk/Office area
Tidy, dust, spot clean, and then focus on my desk: papers, piles, and any clutter hot spots.

    • Friday – Office/Filing
Paperwork, filing, and refining my system (especially around tax time). Sometimes I tackle other office storage if filing is light.

On top of this, I layer organizing into the same room I’m already cleaning. For example, in the bedroom I might just do one closet section that day—dresses one week, sweaters the next—so I don’t get overwhelmed. I don’t redo my whole house at once; I just improve systems in small, weekly bites.

The magic is that this schedule lets me ignore other messy areas because I know they have a day. If the floors look bad on Thursday, I remind myself, “They’re getting done Monday,” and move on.

If you want my printable version and more details, I have a free Weekly Cleaning Plan download linked from my Weekly Cleaning Schedule post on Pulling Curls.
