Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse.

From my podcasts and classes, I end up talking about a handful of postpartum challenges over and over because they blindside people:

  • Physical recovery: sore bottom, C-section pain, peeing and pooping issues, bleeding, and things like blood clots.
  • Breastfeeding struggles: pain, latch problems, supply worries, and the myth that it’s “natural and easy.”
  • Sleep deprivation and exhaustion: feeling like you’ll never sleep again, especially in those first weeks.
  • Mental health: baby blues vs. postpartum depression/anxiety, rage, and that “I just don’t feel like myself” feeling.
  • Identity and mindset shifts: grief over your “old life,” needing flexibility, and pressure to do things the “right” way.
  • Practical support: not having enough help at home, needing meal trains, and realistic expectations once everyone goes back to work.

Is there one of those areas you’re most worried about right now?
