Answer
Hi there!
From what I’ve shared so far, you can see I’m a fan of doing raised beds the “hard but smart” way: planning, good soil, and lots of mulch and muscle.
For building raised beds, I typically recommend:
- Sturdy lumber or metal bed kits
- Exterior screws and a drill/driver
- Measuring tape, level, and a square
- Work gloves and closed‑toe shoes (learned that the hard way in my “wrong shoes and everything” post)
For filling and prepping beds:
- Quality soil/compost mix
- Mulch in bulk (those giant truckloads you’ve seen me post about)
- A wheelbarrow or garden cart
- Shovel, rake, and a hand trowel
What size beds are you thinking about building?
