Question
What are the signature techniques Natasha Nicholes uses in her planner addiction and how do they benefit 'Black Girls Plan Too'?
Answer
Hi, I’m Natasha Nicholes from Houseful of Nicholes. I love this question.
When I talk about being “planner addicted,” it’s less about stickers and more about survival, sanity, and visibility for Black women who plan. A few signature techniques I lean on:
-
Layered planning – I combine home, business, travel, and community work in one ecosystem so I can see my whole life at a glance. It helps other Black women see that their lives are allowed to be complex and full, not “too much.”
-
Intentional reflection – I use my planner to process grief, PTSD, and overwhelm, not just appointments. That’s where “Black Girls Plan Too” benefits most: it normalizes using planning as mental and emotional care, not just productivity.
-
Visual storytelling – photos, memory-keeping, and little notes about wins, losses, and road trips turn the planner into a record of Black joy, Black grief, and Black excellence. It reminds us we’re descendants of greatness, even on days we feel empty.
-
Boundary tracking – I write down my boundaries, my “no’s,” and my rest. It encourages other Black girls who plan to center themselves, not just everyone they care for.
