How does Natasha Nicholes's urban farming initiative in Chicago outperform other local projects?

While I can't make a direct comparison with other local projects, I can certainly highlight some unique aspects of my urban farming initiative, the We Sow We Grow Project.

Firstly, it was born out of a personal passion for agriculture and a desire to make a difference in my local community, the West Pullman neighborhood in Chicago. The project started with a vacant lot across the street from my home, which we transformed into a community garden with the support of our Alderman, Carrie Austin.

Secondly, the project is not just about growing food, but also about growing gardeners. We aim to educate and inspire people to start their own gardens, thereby promoting self-sustainability and healthier eating habits.

Lastly, we're committed to protecting our community from potential gentrification. We're actively fundraising to buy the land for our garden and protect it from future developers.
