Answer
My approach with We Sow We Grow and homesteading is all about proving you don’t need acres of land or a rural zip code to live more self-sufficiently and in community.
I’m a Chicago girl doing part-time homesteading in the city: backyard beds, community lots, and eventually chickens, all wrapped in education and access. We focus on:
- Growing good food in whatever space you have
- Teaching neighbors to garden so they can teach others
- Using our community garden lots to support our West Pullman community, not just my own family
At its core, it’s urban, communal, and justice-minded homesteading: building skills, feeding people, and growing gardeners globally while rooting deeply in my neighborhood.
What part of homesteading are you most curious about: gardening, preserving food, or community-building?
