What are the most memorable moments from Natasha Nicholes's North Dakota trips?

Some of the most memorable moments from my North Dakota trips center around three big themes: family, firsts, and unexpected charm.

• Traveling the entire state in a week with my dad and my “three littles,” turning it into a true multigenerational road trip, was huge for me. Seeing my kids experience their Poppy as both grandfather and father figure is a memory I hold close.

• Visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park for the first time and treating it like a living classroom stood out—prairie dogs, bison, elk, wild horses, golden eagles, plus the Junior Ranger badges that kicked off our “collect them all” challenge.

• Discovering quirky roadside attractions and giant sculptures, then pulling over to take photos of the kids—those images are some of my favorite travel keepsakes.

• Hotel-hopping across the state (Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Williston, Medora, Rugby) and watching the kids get excited about every new pool and suite, especially Rough Riders Hotel in Medora with its old west feel, made the whole trip feel like an adventure in stages.
