Hi, I’m Natasha Nicholes from Houseful of Nicholes. How can I help?

There isn’t one single “definitive guide” to my homeschooling and lunch strategies, but a few core ideas show up again and again in my posts:

  • Homeschool doesn’t mean stay home: I love field trips (like the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum) and learning outside on patios, in the yard, or wherever life is happening.
  • Purposeful parenting: I focus on raising the actual child I have, not an imaginary “ideal” one, adjusting discipline and expectations to each child’s personality.
  • Simple, sanity-saving lunches: I pack what’s easy for me and fun for them—things like Yoplait multipacks that stack well, travel well, and that I know the kids will actually eat. No need to create Pinterest art unless your kid really wants it.
  • Bulk buying and predictability: With four kids, I buy favorites (meat, cheese, bread, yogurt) in bulk so I’m not reinventing lunch every day.

Are you looking for ideas for your own homeschool days, or more of a big-picture philosophy you can adapt?
