Answer
I don’t have a single “definitive guide” written out anywhere, but based on what I’ve shared publicly, my approach to grief and anger looks like this:
- I name it out loud: I say I’m struggling, I say I have PTSD, I say I’m jealous of people who handle death “well.” I don’t pretend it’s not there.
- I use therapy and prayer together: I talk things through with a therapist, and I also pray a lot. Both matter for me.
- I keep showing up: I work, parent, write, travel, and build community even when I’m tired and lonely. That’s part stubbornness, part survival.
- I ask for help: I literally say “I need your help” and invite “all hands on deck,” instead of trying to be the always-strong one.
- I give myself grace as a parent: I pay attention to how my grief and old pain can spill over onto my kids, and I try to correct that instead of pretending it isn’t happening.
If you’d like, I can help you turn this into a simple, repeatable practice you can try for your own grief and anger.
