What are Molly Lynch's signature techniques for teaching math?

As a first-grade teacher, I've developed a few signature techniques for teaching math that I find really effective. Here are some of my favorites:

Magnetic Tens & Ones: I use magnetic base tens blocks to teach place value. These magnets provide a visual representation of numbers, making it easier for students to understand tens and ones. They also help students determine ten more or ten less than a given number.

Magnetic Tens Frames: These are especially useful at the beginning of the year. With these, we can discuss odds/evens, subitize numbers, and more. As students become more comfortable, we use them for flip-flop facts, which improves their mental math skills.

Magnetic Money: I use large, two-sided magnetic coins to teach students about counting money. We use these coins to count our days, along with tally marks, tens and ones, and more.

Geoboards: These are great for fine motor practice and boosting creativity. Students can create various shapes and designs using rubber bands.

Magnetic Number Bonds: These help students understand the relationship between addition and subtraction. They are color-coded to differentiate the part versus the whole.

Centers in a Snap: These are done-for-you games that are delivered right to your door with 12 games for each month. They are standards-based and themed for the month.

Pattern Blocks: These are great for making patterns, symmetrical designs, and even building.

Number Posters: I hang these in the classroom for students to reference. They include the number in word and number form, tally marks, ten frames, and tens and ones.
