Question
How does Molly Lynch integrate social-emotional learning into her curriculum?
Answer
Hiya, Molly here!
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is a big priority in my classroom. I use a variety of strategies to integrate SEL into my curriculum.
-
Morning Meetings: I start each day with a morning meeting where students can identify and express their emotions in a safe and supportive space.
-
Mindfulness/Breathing Activities: I incorporate activities that promote self-regulation, such as mindfulness exercises and deep breathing techniques.
-
Role Playing/Social Stories: Lessons on empathy, kindness, and respect for diversity are essential in SEL. Through books, role-playing, and social stories, students learn the value of treating others with compassion and understanding.
I also use resources like SEL curriculum, picture books, and online tools and apps to support SEL in the classroom.
How can I assist you further with SEL or any other teaching strategies?
