Hi, I’m Ken Walker from Instagram. Love this question.

When I talk about “letting go of a lot of bad habits and focusing on building better ones,” I’m not big on super rigid systems. What I actually focus on is:

  • Identity over willpower: Instead of “I have to stop this,” I ask, “What type of person am I trying to become?” Habits follow identity way more reliably than raw discipline.
  • Replacement, not deprivation: I swap bad habits with better ones that give a similar “reward” (stress → gym, scrolling → learning, etc.). It’s easier to stick to because your brain still feels like it’s winning.
  • Small, boring consistency: I’d rather you master one tiny upgrade daily than chase a 30‑day extreme challenge you’ll drop in week two.

What’s one habit you’re trying to let go of right now?
