What are the key milestones in Kanika Chadda Gupta's career with Sa Dance Company?
Answer
I've been with the Sa Dance Company for over a decade now. It's been a journey of growth and self-discovery, with dance being a constant in my life. I've had the opportunity to experiment and evolve with different dance forms, from Kuchipudi to Bollywood fusion.
One of the key milestones was when we started to blend different dance backgrounds - Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Folk, and Ballet - to create a unique dance experience. This amalgamation has been a delight to the senses and gratifying for us as performers.
Another significant moment was when we managed to reconnect and revive our passion for dance during the Covid-19 pandemic. We held virtual rehearsals and learned choreography from our phones, which was a new and exciting experience.
We've performed at several notable venues and dance festivals, including Lincoln Center, The Wallis Annenberg, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Summerstage, Battery Downtown Dance Festival, MAD museum, and more.
