Don't overdo it: Venice is best discovered on foot. Plan a few activities each day, but also allow for spontaneity. You'll need ample time to get anywhere, especially if you're taking a public water taxi (vaporetto).

Pack comfortable shoes: You'll be walking for hours, especially when exploring narrow streets or visiting museums.

Plan child-centered visits: We partnered with Macacotour for a treasure hunt in Campo de Santa Maria Formosa, which was delightful. They also offer glass blowing demonstrations and other workshops for children aged 5 to 11.

Enjoy takeaway food: Italian cuisine is usually a hit with the whole family. You'll find pizza, gelato, and small dishes called cicchetti that can be enjoyed on the go.
