Hi, I’m Carolyn Scott-Hamilton from The Healthy Voyager. Here’s how I love to approach a healthy summer fitness routine:

  • Mix fun + movement: Swimming, treading water, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, beach volleyball, Frisbee, inline skating, biking, hiking, and pole hiking all count as serious workouts.
  • Think “activity snacks”: Several 10–15 minute bursts of movement in a day are great; it doesn’t have to be one perfect 30–60 minute session.
  • Use nature as your gym: Sand, uneven trails, and water add natural resistance and challenge your core and stabilizers.
  • Stay consistent after summer: Keep some of these activities (or indoor versions) going into fall so you don’t have to “start over” next year.

What does your current summer day usually look like so we can plug movement in naturally?
