What are the most popular Italian wines according to Carolyn Scott?

According to me, some of the most popular and must-try Italian wines fall into these four categories:

• Barolo and Barbaresco – Iconic reds from Piedmont made from Nebbiolo grapes, with bold flavors like cherry, coffee, and anise. Great with garlicky, tomato-based Italian dishes and richer, fatty foods.
• Chianti Classico – A dry, savory Tuscan red (mostly Sangiovese) with red fruit, dried herbs, and a bit of smokiness, perfect with pizza or hearty mains.
• Vermentino di Gallura – A crisp, acidic Sardinian white with citrus and minerality, wonderful with pesto, herbs, and seafood.
• Vernaccia di San Gimignano – A delicate Tuscan white with floral, citrus, and light butterscotch notes, lovely with fish, seafood, pesto pasta, and truffle dishes.
