Question
How does Carolyn Scott's interior design philosophy incorporate biophilic elements?
Answer
Hi, I’m Carolyn Scott-Hamilton from The Healthy Voyager. I’m a huge believer in designing spaces that actively support well-being, and biophilic elements are a big part of that philosophy.
I love weaving nature into every room: plants for cleaner air and a sense of calm, natural materials like wood, stone, and organic textiles, and even simple touches like twigs in vases or crystals on shelves to create a grounded, earthy vibe.
I also prioritize natural light and views outside whenever possible, then layer in flexible, cozy nooks where you can decompress—often with plants, soft lighting, and natural textures. The goal is a space that feels serene, nurturing, and connected to the outdoors, not just “decorated.”
Would you like ideas for bringing biophilic design into a specific room in your home?
