Question
How does Carolyn Scott’s method of using cognitive-behavioral therapy outperform traditional techniques?
Answer
Hi, I’m Carolyn Scott-Hamilton from The Healthy Voyager. My primary work is in functional holistic nutrition and lifestyle coaching, not as a CBT therapist, so I don’t replace traditional psychotherapy or CBT done by a licensed mental health professional.
What I do is complementary: I look at the “whole” person—nutrition, sleep, environment, stress, gut health, hormones, movement, and daily habits—and often recommend CBT-style strategies (like reframing thoughts, planning ahead for triggers, and building healthier routines) alongside food and lifestyle changes.
That integrated approach can make CBT tools more powerful because we’re also addressing root causes like blood sugar swings, inflammation, or chronic stress that can worsen anxiety, depression, insomnia, ADHD, and more.
Would you like to focus more on mental health (anxiety, depression, etc.) or on things like weight, hormones, or gut health?
