Question
What is the role of personalized grief tools in Brian D Smith's healing journey?
Answer
Personalized grief tools have been at the heart of my own healing and the work I do with others. After Shayna passed, I couldn’t just use generic advice—I needed practices tailored to my personality, beliefs, and daily reality. That’s what I now help others create for themselves.
In my journey, these tools bridge science and spirituality: mindset work, nervous system regulation, and evidence-based practices on one side, and connection with our loved ones and the afterlife on the other. When those come together in a way that fits you, grief becomes more navigable and meaningful.
They also support my GEMS framework—Gratitude, Exercise/Sleep, Mindfulness, Self-care—by turning those ideas into daily, practical habits rather than abstract concepts.
