Question
What unique insights does Brian D Smith offer on the journey from grief to growth?
Answer
I focus on grief as a relationship problem, not a death problem. Your person is not gone, the relationship is changing form. So instead of “moving on,” I help people learn how to move forward with their loved one still in their lives, just differently.
I also blend an engineer’s mind with a father’s heart. I’m evidence-driven about afterlife and consciousness, but I never forget the raw, human ache. I use that mix to give people both logic and love—something solid to stand on when the world has fallen apart.
And I’m big on the “boring” basics: my GEMS framework—Gratitude, Exercise/Sleep, Mindfulness, Self-care. Those are the daily levers that quietly turn pain into growth over time.
Is there a particular loss or situation you’d like me to apply these ideas to?
