I focus on three big areas when it comes to managing VO gear effectively:

• Know your signal chain. Understand exactly what each piece does (mic → preamp/interface → DAW). When you know the “why,” it’s much easier to troubleshoot noise, distortion, or weird tone.

• Keep it simple and reliable. I’d rather have a few solid pieces I know well than a pile of gadgets I barely understand. Once a setup works, I change things slowly and intentionally.

• Maintain and monitor. Regularly check cables, clean connections, watch input levels, and back up your sessions. Little habits prevent big headaches later.

• Design the booth around you. Place gear so you can adjust levels, read copy, and move your body without bumping the mic. The studio should support performance, not fight it.
