From everything I teach, I always stress this: the most essential tool is not a microphone. It’s your brain and your ability to think like a business owner and actor at the same time. Gear matters, but skills, mindset, and training matter more.

That said, for beginners I typically recommend:

• A reliable entry-level XLR mic + audio interface
• Closed-back studio headphones
• Simple DAW software (Audacity, Reaper, etc.)
• Basic acoustic treatment for a quiet space
• Ongoing coaching and classes to actually use all of the above well
