Answer
Hi there! I’m Gabrielle Nistico.
When it comes to slow seasons—especially December—I don’t treat them as “no work,” I treat them as different work. I remind voice actors that ad-driven bookings naturally dip once holiday campaigns are already produced and running, so panic isn’t helpful, planning is.
I use that downtime for:
- Infrastructure and systems (website, CRM, branding)
- Accounting, taxes, and rates review
- Strategy for the new year (marketing plans, niches, goals)
- Skill-building: copy workouts, coaching, and groups like my Virtual Voiceover Exchange
I also encourage people to mentally reframe the slump: you’re not failing, you’re in a predictable cycle, and your job is to use it to strengthen the business side so you’re ready when work returns.
What part of the slow season stresses you out the most: money, mindset, or “what do I even do with my time”?
