• Microphone: A solid large‑diaphragm condenser (not a cheap USB toy) that flatters your voice. The exact model matters less than how it works in your space.
• Interface / preamp: A reliable audio interface to cleanly get the mic into your computer. No gaming headsets.
• Acoustic treatment: Thick absorption (panels, moving blankets, bass traps). The room matters more than the mic.
• Headphones / monitors: Closed‑back headphones so you can hear noise, clicks, and room issues clearly.
• Recording software: Any dependable DAW you’re comfortable with (Audacity, Adobe Audition, Reaper, TwistedWave, etc.). There is no single “best” DAW – the best one is the one you can use quickly and confidently.
