Question
What are the key elements of Ariel Gatoga's talk 'Superstition is Not Magical'?
Answer
In that talk, I distinguish magic from superstition very clearly. Superstition is based on fear, arbitrary rules, and the belief that outer conditions or objects have power over you. It tends to make you feel smaller, guilty, and at the mercy of luck or “bad signs.”
Magic, as I teach it, is a conscious, disciplined practice. It’s based on intention, mental training, and cooperation with spiritual laws. Tools and symbols are there to focus your mind, not to control you or curse you if you “do it wrong.”
A major theme is that superstition robs you of power, while true magic restores your sovereignty, responsibility, and peace of mind.
Is there a particular part of that distinction you’d like me to unpack more—tools, omens, or mindset?
