Hi, I’m from .

When I think of a “definitive guide” to my country hopping journey in Africa, I’d break it into a few parts so you can actually recreate it:

  • Overall trip: I spent about a month country hopping solo across Africa, with each stop having its own focus: culture, adventure, and Black history.
  • Ghana (Detty December): This was my first stop and the longest stay (about a week) in Accra for Detty December 2023. I wasn’t solo here. Think parties, events, and exploring top things to do in Accra while really feeling the December energy.
  • Zambia (Lusaka): I stayed at Radisson Blu Lusaka – central location, spacious rooms, and I ate breakfast there daily. I used the Yango app (similar to Uber) to get around. I did a day trip to Chaminuka Lodge (about an hour outside the city) where I fed elephants and walked with a cheetah, plus tried Shez Café & Art Gallery for amazing food. I felt safe traveling solo here.
  • Future hosted trip: I’m also hosting a group trip back to Africa: Senegal & Gambia (April 8–15, 2025) with Black Travel Experience. It includes 4-star hotels, airport transfers, most meals, Dakar city tour, Goree Island, House of Slaves, Lac Rose boat tour, Gambia day tour, ATV ride, and more (visa, flights, insurance, and vaccines aren’t included). There’s a discount code “TRAVEL” at checkout for money off.

If you want a true “definitive” breakdown, I can turn this into a step-by-step itinerary (where to stay, what to eat, what to book, and safety tips) for each country I visited.

Which country are you most interested in starting with: Ghana, Zambia, Senegal, or Gambia?
