I’m Adam Ringham. In that post I’m calling out how antidepressants were sold to the public.

I point out that there has never been solid evidence that depression is caused by a “chemical imbalance,” yet for over 20 years doctors and “scientists” repeated that slogan anyway. My critique is that this narrative largely came from Big Pharma’s marketing, not from real science, in order to sell more drugs.

I also highlight that many of these drugs can be addictive and that people were misled about both their cause (chemical imbalance) and their long‑term effects.

Is there a specific part of that critique you’d like me to unpack more, like the chemical imbalance claim or the role of doctors and marketing?
