When I photograph on white backgrounds, I’m not trying to get “one look”; I treat that white as a flexible tool rather than a single, blown‑out backdrop. That’s a big difference from many traditional “just make it pure white” approaches.

• Light it for a clean white background
• Don’t light it, so it goes neutral/gray
• Add patterns and gels for texture and color

Because I separate subject and background lighting and change how the background is used, I can get multiple distinct looks in one session, keep control over shadows and spill, and give clients more variety without changing sets.
