Question
How does Scott Kivowitz's experience with corporate photography inform his unique storytelling style?
Answer
Hi, I’m Scott Wyden Kivowitz.
My corporate photography experience has taught me to think like a business and like a storyteller at the same time. In corporate environments, I’m constantly navigating expectations, politics, brand guidelines, and sometimes uncomfortable or disrespectful situations. That pressure forces me to focus on people’s expressions, body language, and context, not just on “nice” lighting or gear.
When I break down a photo or tell a story (like I do on Photo Breakdown), I’m drawing on that real‑world tension: the client’s goals vs. the subject’s humanity, the brief vs. what actually happened. That mix is what shapes my storytelling style—practical, people‑focused, and grounded in actual experiences rather than theory.
