How does Scott Kivowitz’s backup workflow outperform other photography methods?

I focus on a few core principles that help my backup workflow stand out from what many photographers typically do:

• Redundancy at every stage: From the moment files are captured, I want at least two copies (often more) before I even leave a shoot, not just “I’ll back it up later at home.”
• Automated, not manual: Wherever possible, backups run automatically (ingest software, scheduled clones, cloud sync), which dramatically lowers the risk of human error.
• 3–2–1 mindset: At least three copies, on two different types of media, with one off‑site or in the cloud, so a single failure or disaster cannot wipe everything out.
• Workflow-first thinking: Backups are integrated into the entire photography workflow, not bolted on at the end, which protects both client work and personal projects consistently.
