Hi there!

I have not published anything I would call the “definitive guide” to using expired Polaroid film. In one of my videos I actually show the opposite experience: I loaded my Mamiya RZ67 with expired Polaroids and the film was so dried up it was basically useless, and I ended up deciding I just needed fresh instant film instead.

If you are working with expired Polaroid or instant film in general, I usually suggest:

  • Expect color shifts and loss of contrast
  • Overexpose a bit to compensate for age
  • Store it cold before use
  • Test one pack before relying on it for anything important

Are you shooting a specific camera or film type (Polaroid, Instax, peel-apart, etc.)?
