Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse and Pulling Curls. Here are some of the kid-friendly meal techniques I use and talk about on my podcasts:

  • Desperation dinners: I keep a short list of easy standbys (for me it’s pancakes, potato bar, and spaghetti) so dinner still happens when “the heavens are falling.”

  • Lower-pressure meals: I focus on getting everyone fed and protecting my mental health instead of perfect, from-scratch dinners every night.

  • Getting kids cooking: Each family member has their own “dinner day” to plan, cook, and another day to clean up. It teaches skills, reduces pressure on mom, and makes kids more invested in what’s served.

  • Flexible routine: I’m big on convenient grocery-store meals over fast food when we’re tired, and I let older kids handle their own simple breakfasts or snacks.

Would you like ideas tailored to your kids’ ages and how picky they are?
